Welcome to K.T.V.'s Volcano Website!!!
Ring-of-Fire
This is a map that shows many Ring of Fires, the most largest Ring of Fire is located around the Pacific Ring of Fire. A Ring of Fire is an area where active volcanoes and earthquakes occur. The Ring of Fire has 452 volcanoes and has 50% of the world's active and dormant volcanoes. there is about 81% of the world's largest earthquakes happen on the Ring of Fire.
A volcano is a mountain or hill that drops downwards into a pool of magma, melted rock, below the Earth. When pressure builds up, the volcano erupts. Gases and rocks are blown up through the opening. The eruption can cause lava flows, mudslides, avalanches and much more dangerous omens. Some eruptions can trigger tsunamis and earthquakes. Volcanoes are formed when magma from the mantle finds it's way to the surface and erupts to create lava flows or ash deposits. Soon as it continues to erupt, it will become bigger and bigger.

The 3 Types of Volcanoes
Composite volcanoes are created by many eruptions. Composite volcanoes are also known as strato-volcanoes. They are tall, steep, and have evenly shaped sides. They are created from the layers of lava flows, volcanic ash, blocks, bombs and cinders. Composite volcano ,are constructed from several eruptions.

Cinder cone volcanoes are shaped like a big bowl as their crater. They are round and oval and only grow up to about 1,000 feet. When the erupt, chunks of lava bursting into the air breaking into smaller pieces that drop on all sides of the crater. The pile constructs an egg-shaped volcano as shown in the photo to the right.
Shield volcanoes are the largest on the world that actually looks like a volcano. The volcano is produce by the action of the gas ( steam or vapor water ) with heat from the earths core. They are built by many layers of runny lava flows. Although the type of eruptions found in a shield volcano can vary slightly, most experience Hawaiian eruptions.Earth's crust is 40 to 250 miles (64 to 402 kilometers) thick. It is broken up into 14 major and 38 smaller pieces called tectonic plates.
VOLCANO FUN FACTS !!!!!!!
- Mount Tambora on Sumbawa Island, Indoniesa was the biggest eruption ever recorded by humans in 1815.
- Hawaii's Kilauea volcano, has been erupting continuously for 29 years since Jan. 3, 1983
