Hello! We are the PIN group. We are excited that our teacher is letting us make a website. We think this is an awesome way to learn!
A volcano is a destructive weak spot in the Earth's crust. Some volcanoes can look funky and unusual because some volcanoes have a volcanic neck which looks like a giant tooth stuck in the ground. This happens when magma hardens in the volcanoes pipe. The magma inside of a volcano is also deadly and when the magma shoots up it is now lava and that lava can destroy towns but it can also create wonders like island arcs. There are 3 types of volcanoes. Shield volcanoes, Composite volcanoes, and Cinder-Cone volcanoes. There are also extinct volcanoes which don't erupt anymore, then there are dormant volcanoes which erupt every now and then, and finally there are active volcanoes which erupt often. A major volcanic belt that contains these volcanoes is called The Ring of Fire. It rims the Pacific Ocean. A lot of them can create volcanic landforms such as a Lava Plateaus and Calderas. Also, when magma turns solid under the crust it is called a Batholith and when rising magma is blocked by horizontal layers of rock , the magma forces the layer of rock upwards into a dome shape which is called a Dome Mountains. So there are many things volcano can do!
