HELLO!! Welcome to our volcano page,we are going to teach you about lightning in volcanoes.I hope you like it and learn something new, it's actually really cool!!!!!!
You will learn about volcanoes and how lightning forms in them!!!!!!!!

How does lightning form in volcanoes? Well I will explain how it all happens.
One thing that has to happen for lightning to form in a volcano is a large charge between two masses. If it gets large enough then it could be able to be stronger than air resistance and when it's big enough it also creates a path of ionized air. After that all happens then it can conduct electricity and it becomes lightning .

This is an actual picture from the Japan Sakurajima volcano in February 2013.Lightning actually struck at this volcano. Some people think it's really amazing looking, including me,but it just adds more danger to the people that live around it.On my opinion is you shouldn't live near a living volcano.

Lightning in volcano is as cool as it seems but it can be dangerous. This one looks violent and deadly. So if you want to watch this light show, keep your distance.

Volcanoes are openings in the Earth's surface. When they are active they can let ash, gas and hot mama escape in sometimes violent and spectacular eruptions.
The word volcano originally comes from the name of the Roman god of fire, Vulcan.
While most volcanoes from near tectonic boundaries , they can also form in areas that contain abnormally hot rock inside the Earth.Known as mantle plumes, these hotspots are found at a number of locations around the globe with the most notable being in Hawaii .
Hot liquid rock under the Earth's surface is known as magma, it is called lava after it comes out of a volcano .
Some volcanic eruption of modern times include Mount Krakatoa in 1883, Novarupta in 1912, Mount St Helens and Mt Pinatubo in 1991.
Volcanoes are usually located where tectonic plates meet. This is especially true for the Pacific Ring of Fire, an area around the Pacific Ocean where over 75% of the volcanoes on Earth are found.
While we certainly have some big volcanoes here on Earth, the biggest known volcano is our solar system is actually on Mars. Its name is Olympus Mons and it measures a whooping 600km (373 miles) wide and 21km (13 miles ) high.
The object with the most volcanic eruption activity in our solar system is low ,one of Jupiter's moons . Covered in volcanoes, its surface is constantly changing to the large amount of volcanic activity
Most people think of volcanoes as large cone shaped mountains but that is just one type ,other features wide plateaus ,fissure vents (crack were lava emerges ) and bulging dome shapes .
There are also volcanoes found in the ocean floor and even under icecaps , such as those found in Iceland.
Common volcanic gases include water vapor , carbon dioxide , sulfur dioxide, hydrogen chloride, hydrogen fluoride and sulfide .
Volcanic eruptions can send ash high into the air, over 30km (17miles) above the Earths surface.
Pumice is a unique volcanic rock (igneous)that can float in water. it can also be used as an abrasive and is sometimes used in beauty salons for removing dry skin.
Large volcanic eruptions can reflect radiation from the Sun and drop average temperatures on Earth by around half degree .There have been several examples of this over the last century
There are three different types of volcanoes a composite volcano, shield volcano and a cinder cone volcano.
Why Are Volcanoes Dangerous
The reason volcanoes are dangerous is because if a volcano erupts it creates ash clouds and if we breath in the ash cloud around us it may cause death. Another reason volcanoes are dangerous is its lava. If you live near a volcano it may erupt wiping out everything around it and did you know the temperature lava is about 1000 degrees .Also volcanoes are dangerous because of its lighting. It will strike you instantly and you get electrocuted.

Words to know/Glossary
magma-Hot fluid or semifluid material below or within the earth's crust from which lava and other igneous rock is
formed by cooling
Lava-Hot molten or semifluid rock erupted from a volcano or fissure,or solid rock resulting from cooling of this
volcano-a mountain or a hill that has a crater or a vent where lava, rock fragments, hot vapor, and gas are being or
have been erupted from the earths crust.
Shield volcano-a broad, domed volcano with gently sloping sides, characteristic of the eruption of fluid, basaltic
lava
Composite-a stratovolcano,also known as a composite volcano,is a conical volcano built
up by many layers of hardened lava, tephra, pumice, and volcanic ash
